TO PASS THE TIME

______________________________________________

The description I had used on 8tracks for TO PASS THE TIME was this: “Finding ways to make myself not look vulnerable but, while doing so, I do just that.”

Recently, I found myself developing my first actual crush on a dude that I had only known for three days (rather than admiration from afar). As a complete and total n00b when it comes to dating (total of 3), yet alone relationships (my score so far: zero), we covered a lot of grounds within those 72 hours. On the fourth consecutive day of this…____ship, he had to jet off to New York, where he would be for the next week and a half and I was stuck here in the deep South with no one to do stuff (I know, this is very broad) with. When he had left, I was overwhelmed with emotions (I really hate that word) that I had never experienced with another man and had disgustingly admitted that I had missed him and felt all sorts of weird. I wasn’t used to expressing these words with another being as I am usually never vocal about them with anyone; instead, I’d use sarcasm- and a whole lot of it- to cover it all up.

But that was four days ago and I am feeling much better now. As always, compiling mixes can be quite therapeutic and, what I’ve come to find, the most effective way to ease my “emotional” side (not sure what it is but I’m really in tune with my feelings this year). And yeah, we’ve been communicating with each other, so it’s been….nice, I guess.

So continuing on with the mix, the first two tracks that I’ve selected to start out with belong to two artists I’ve had the pleasure of knowing within the past few months and throughout my childhood. The first track, “Mobile Home Park,” is by Circa High and we’ve crossed paths due to our membership on What.CD. We are just two cyber-friends sharing our passions and interests- for him, it’s his music, and I am honored to share it with you all. I was fortunate enough to hear some of his demos that he has recorded from 2009 to now and whenever he gets his page set-up, you’ll know what I’m talking about when I say that his music covers several different genres: “chillwave,” funk, ambient, electronic, etc. (he has also recorded a very summer-y, feel-good cover of The Rolling Stones’ “That’s How Strong My Love Is” so maybe you guys will be able to get your ears around that soon). The second artist, Ages, is a personal friend of mine that I’ve known since elementary school; even though we may not communicate on a daily basis, music has always kept us pretty “tight” so I, too, am honored to put it up on here as well. If you dig his tunes, Ages’ (aka Michael Lundy) first official release, Bryan, will be out on July 10 so give it a spin when the time comes- I think some (but hopefully ALL) of you will really enjoy it.

So, with all that being said:
